How does Clelia compare to Hanseatic? Physical ship?
Hi Joan — The Hanseatic and the Clelia II offer similar amenities, and both are very comfortable, luxurious ships, but the Clelia II holds only about 100 passengers vs 180+ on the Hanseatic.
This is one of the main reasons we use the Clelia, as we firmly believe that expedition cruising is better when the numbers are kept lower. The larger the group, the longer it takes to off load and on load everyone, and shore visitation sites can be overwhelmed with large groups. Plus, a slightly smaller ship is more maneuverable and flexible on difficult landings. At 300 feet in length vs 403 feet, the Clelia II can operate in more areas than the larger ship.
