Lamanai Outpost Lodge Lamanai Outpost Lodge

For a remote, unique jungle lodge experience, a visit to Lamanai Outpost Lodge is unsurpassed. You'll travel by boat up the New River, passing birds and the occasional crocodile.  Suddenly, the river opens up to a beautiful spring-fed lake, and you are transported back in time as you pass the ancient Mayan Lamanai ruins.  A few minutes later, when your boat docks at Lamanai Outpost Lodge, you know you are in a special place. The thatch roofed cabanas are sited in beautifully landscaped, private jungle setting, surrounded by wild habitat and wildlife.

At Lamanai, your opportunties for activities are abundant, and our all-inclusive price includes the most popular activities.  Explore the ruins with a local guide - or take a leisurely canoe ride to the ruins on your own.  Enjoy a sunset cruise along the banks of the lake, visit a Mayan village and learn about Mayan rainforest medicine, or go on a nocturnal animal spotting safari.  Go in search of the loud and amusing howler monkeys, and participate in a nighttime crocodile encounter. (Perfectly safe; we haven't lost a traveler yet!)  Family-friendly, with out of this world food, Lamanai Outpost Lodge is not to be missed.

Jungle Dawn

Sunrise Canoe Excursion

Strike out across the lagoon in exploration of Dawson's Creek and its surrounding flood plains, islands and savannah. Keep an eye out for manatees, otters, crocodiles and endemic parrots to name but a few.

Lamanai Maya Ruins

The ruins of Lamanai encompass over 700 structures with excavations and reconstructions still underway.

Maya Medicine Trail

As the only resource for medicinal aid, indigenous people have long used a wide variety of local plans for their powerful and effective medicinal properties. Unlock the secrets and learn first hand how basic potions and salves are prepared and used to this day in Belize's jungle villages.

Sunset Cocktail Cruise

End the day on the New River Lagoon surrounded by tropical forest and wildlife with a well-stocked cooler and your own personal bartender as you watch the sun disappear below the treetops.

Nature Walk

Enjoy a nice walk around the lodge and reserve to observe nature at work; butterflies, orchids and wildlife.

Spotlight Safari

This exciting adventure gives you the opportunity to encounter anything from the Morelet's crocodile to the elusive and endangered jaguar. Plus, close up views of some of Belize's fascinating river birds as they roost on the water's edge make this a not-to-miss adventure!

Night Walk

Experience the jungle under the evening stars or by the light of the moon. Listen as the owls and bats come out to hunt and gather, and troupes of howler monkeys speak to each other across the canopy. Sounds come from everywhere as many species such as frogs and tarantulas, other mammals and species of birds thrive in the late hour of the evening.

All of our tours can upgrade to the following premium activities:

Howler Trek

Observe troops of Howler Monkeys as they start the day foraging high in the jungle canopy. Babies cling tightly to their mother's backs under the protective gaze of the dominant male whose call can be heard for miles. Learn about the species' lifestyle, social dynamics and infant rearing practices.

Crocodile Encounter

You will travel by airboat into the floodplains and surrounding waterways where you will observe -and even assist if you wish - as one of our crocodile biologists endeavors to capture, collect data and expand our understanding of the endangered Morelet's crocodile.
