Antarctica Special Voyages 2009
Enjoy other Antarctica cruises.

We are excited to offer two variations on our popular Antarctic itineraries: Weddell Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula and the addition of the South Sandwich Islands to our regular Falkland, South Georgia and Antarctic Peninsula voyage. The trips will be aboard the Professor Molchanov, a comfortable, sturdy Russian hydrographic research vessel

And, both trips are discounted 15% from the published rates!

Please note that The Weddell Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula described below was formerly known as Unknown Antarctica in our February enewsletter. The itinerary has been re-worked slightly to include landings in the Weddell Sea area..

On Weddell Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula (MOL 23), we will visit a number of sites infrequently visited by other tour operators. While we can't guarantee specific landings, on our list are, among other spots:

  • Weddell Sea and Dundee and Snow Hill Islands
  • Devil and Vega Islands
  • Astrolabe Island
  • Gourdin Island

For those who would like a longer voyage which includes the sub-Antarctic islands of the Falkland and South Georgia Islands as well as the Antarctic Peninsula, our MOL24 voyage adds the rarely-visited South Sandwich Islands, in the British Antarci Territory. We will try to land at Zavadovski Island, home to more than a million pair of Chinstrap Penguins -- one of the world's largest penguin colonies!

We'll make other landing attempts at Candlemas, Saunders and Montague Islands, discovered by Capt. James Cook in 1775. These mist-shrouded islands are great haul-outs for Gentoo, Chinstrap Penguins as well as Souther Giant Petrels, Elephant and Fur Seals.

Regardless if this is your first Antarctic voyage or you're a veteran of the Southern Realm, these two trips will put you on the historical short-list of visitors to some seldom-visited Antarctic landings at a great price!
