If large gatherings of humpback whales, marine wildlife, beautiful landscapes, numerous seabird colonies, lighthouses, wild flowers, icebergs and local folks is what you are looking for, this trip is for YOU!

This tour is designed to give you an overview of this enormous, enticing island. Anyone interested in teeming bird life, whale watching and other wildlife in a pristine, but accessible, natural setting will enjoy this trip. It can also be combined with our Whale Watching in Depth or our fascinating Viking Trail Experience.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival into St. Johns, Newfoundland

On arrival you will be picked up and taken to your downtown, St. John's hotel. If time permits there will be a slide show.

O/N St. John’s

Day 2: Whale Watching/ Puffins/ Fishing Villages

We will start our day with a boat trip to the largest puffin colony in North America along with thousands of other sea birds.  This area usually has an abundance of humpback whales.  Occasionally other species of whales are spotted too. After lunch on land, we will visit the charming local fishing villages. B,L

Day 3: Sea Stacks and Wildlife

Traveling along the scenic coast passing quaint coastal villages on the way to Cape St. Mary's where you will visit the third largest gannet sea bird colony on the continent.  Along the way, keep your eyes open for moose, fox, eagles and whales in the coastal waters.  Once at Cape Mary's, overlooking the sea stacks you will also get great views of colonies of murres and kittiwakes. 

On the return we will stop at Rocky River Salmon ladders to learn about Canada's reintroduction of Atlantic salmon. B,L

Day 4:  Coastal Villages and Lighthouse

We head for the Trinity and Bonavista region enjoying a changing landscape of decidu ous trees, sea glass beaches, dramatic waterfalls, sea stacks while driving through coastal villages near the water all before ending up at the Kings Cove Lighthouse. B,L

Day 5: Trinity Bay

Today we find ourselves in Trinity Bay watching for sperm whales from shore, walking the various trails looking for orchids, an abundance of wildlife, or enjoy walking around the picturesque community enjoying lighthouses, icebergs, wild flowers, beach combing, kayaking--just about anything YOU want to do. Day 6: Bonavista/Trinity

Today there is time to explore the historic Bonavista/Trinity area.  From shore you will see 15,000 year old icebergs from Greenland and whales breeching in the waters. We will explore the unique culture of the area before returning to St. John's for an overnight. B,L

Day 7: Eastern edge

As we travel to the most easterly point of North America exploring trails and historic attractions we may have opportunities to spot more whales from shore.  If time permits we will try to get in another boat ride. B, L

Day 8: Departure
Free time in St. John's to hike to Signal Hill or the back alley's before we take you to the airport. B

Rates

Price: $3,300 CAD*, based on double occupancy. Single supplement $450 CAD.

Price includes transfers on arrival into Newfoundland, all ground transportation, accommodations, Breakfast and lunch from breakfast on day 2 to breakfast on day 8, and services of guide.  Price does not include: dinners, air from your home to Newfoundland, items of personal nature, and tips.

Not included: 15 % Canada/Newfoundland Harmonized Sales Tax.  Prices are in CAD will be calculated to USD on day of final payment.

Tour Details

Registration: To confirm your space on this tour, please send a deposit of 30% to our office. Balance is due 120 days prior to departure.  Call 800.808.4492 from US and Canada or 575.524.0084 globally. 

Cancellation Policy: In the event you must cancel your reservation, refunds will be made according to the following schedule: Deposit 30% non-refundable. 90 to 61 days prior to departure, 50% of total is non-refundable; less than 60 days prior to departure, 100% non-refundable.

Insurance: Because many advance logistical arrangements have been made prior to the running of this trip, we must adhere to the above policy. In addition, please be aware that many insurance policies do not cover illness and accident expenses outside of the U.S., and Medicare does NOT cover any such expenses at all. In light of this, we strongly recommend trip cancellation and supplemental insurance. We offer Travel Guard insurance.
