Day 1 Nairobi:

Clients are met on arrival and transferred to the historic Norfolk Hotel. Older than the Ritz and younger than the Savoy, no other hotel in Kenya has as rich a history as the Norfolk. Originally built in 1904 as a watering hole for the settlers, it has matured gracefully and, since its recent acquisition by the Fairmont Hotel Group, has undergone extensive refurbishment.

Days 2 – 4 Maasai Mara :

Today you set out on safari, flying straight to the world famous Maasai Mara. You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to camp with a game drive en-route. The Maasai Mara is undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of East Africa, forever associated with vast numbers of game and the unique spectacle of its animal migration unchanged over the centuries. Your base is a comfortable tented lodge on the banks of the Talek River, perfectly located for year round game-viewing.

Days 5-6 Lake Nakuru :

Today after breakfast you drive to Lake Nakuru, a scenic drive across the Rift Valley Floor with a picnic lunch en-route. You arrive in this beautiful sanctuary mid-afternoon, time to stretch your legs and relax overlooking the flamingo filled lake. Nakuru was created as a National Park to protect its famous flocks of Lesser Flamingo, literally millions of birds turn its shores pink. This park is also a successful rhino sanctuary and lion and leopard are plentiful here.   Your base is Lion Hill Lodge, a mid-range safari lodge right inside the park itself.

Day 7 & 8: Lake Nakuru
After an early breakfast enjoy the scenic two-hour drive to Lake Nakuru. Of the world population of 5 million flamingos, 3 million thrive on these Rift Valley soda lakes (and up to 1 million on Lake Nakuru alone). We are based right inside the Reserve and spend our days exploring Lake Nakuru National Park & Rhino Sanctuary (black & white rhino); this is also home to Rothschild's giraffe (rarely seen elsewhere), zebra, buffalo, eland, waterbuck as well as lion and leopard.

Days 9-11 Samburu National Reserve

Today after an early breakfast you head north to the arid, semi-desert eco-system of Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs in Kenya's Northern Frontier District.   You eat a picnic lunch en-route, arriving inside the reserve in time for a hot shower and a cold drink.   You spend the next two full days exploring Samburu and neighbouring Shaba Reserves – both offer incredible scenery, cultural immersion and easy game-viewing in a balmy climate.   Your base in Samburu is the Intrepids Tented Camp – a pleasant mid-range camp with comfortable and spacious tents, a welcome swimming pool and excellent service.
