For travelers who want to do it all in Peru!  If you're interested in Peru tours that take you to the wildlife of the Amazon rainforest as well as the culturally important Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, this 10 day tour is an excellent option. For the first part of your Peru tour, you will stay in comfortable hotels, setting out each morning to explore Peru's revered places and learn the ways of the ancient Incas. On your seventh day, you'll fly to Iquitos and board the M/V Delfin II, a 28 passenger river boat that will take you down the Amazon where you will enjoy a great variety of wildlife as you explore the Peruvian rainforest and the Amazon River.

Day 1, Monday: Arrive Lima

Arrival in Lima, met at airport and transfer to hotel located at the airport.

Day 2, Tuesday: Lima - Cusco - Sacred Valley

Early morning transfer to the airport for flight to Cusco. On arrival to the capital of the Inca Empire, continue on to your hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.  Enroute to the valley you will have a chance to stop at Awanacancha to observe traditional Andean weaving. 

Then head to Pisac, famous for its ruins: P'isaqa, Inti Watanca, Q'allaqasa and Kinchiraqay. Visit Inti Watana which includes the Temple of the Sun, baths , alters, water fountians, a ceremonial platform, and a volcanic ritual stone used as an astronomic clock or Inca calendar. Continue on to the Pisac Market.

Day 3, Wednesday: Sacred Valley

Enjoy a journey through the Sacred valley of the Incas tot he slat fields of Maras and its terraces. where salt extracted from the springs is stored. The use of Maras Salt dates back thousands of years. 

Continue on to the Inca fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo. This area is a ceremonial center dedicated to the purification and worship of water. The town of Ollantaytambo is referred to as a "Live Inca Town" as the population still lives according to to customs and traditions inherited from ancestors.  O/N Sonesta Posada Yucay, Sacred Valley (B,L)

Day 4, Thursday: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu

Your guide will meet you after breakfast for the drive to the train station where you will board the Vistadome train for the scenic trip to Aguas Calientes. On arrival, board a bus to "Lost City of Machu Picchu" where you will have a guided tour of the citadel.

Day 5, Friday: Machu Picchu - Cusco 

Morning free to go back into the ruins and hike to the Door of the Sun on your own. Or hike up to Huayna Picchu if it is not raining--the path is very slippery. Afternoon train back to Cusco where you are met and transferred back to your hotel. O/N Los Portales Cusco (B)

Day 6, Saturday: Cusco - Lima

This morning you will take a walking city tour of Cusco taking in the winding streets, the white washed houses with blue balconies filled with colorful geraniums. The neighborhood we are walking in is known for the folk artists, who for centuries have worked with stone, wood, silver, textile weavings, ceramics, doll-making and gold. There will be time to visit the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral dating from Spanish times, Santa Domingo church built on the foundations of the Inca Temple Koricancha which was dedicated to the Sun God. Transfer to the airport to fly to Lima.

Day 7, Sunday:  Lima - Iquitos

Your day begins with a Lima city tour where the most important buildings are located around the Plaza Mayor, the main building being the Government Palace where you can still observe the changing of the guard. Lima is a UNESCO due to the well preserved architecture.  Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight Iquitos where you board the M/V Delfin. Enjoy happy hour on the boat.

Day 8, Monday:  Iquitos

Up early for a dawn nature observation from the boat decks. After breakfast a Fundo Casual jungle walk deep into the rainforest where there are great chances of spotting various wildlife. We board the skiffs to explore the black water stream and learn about the rainforest on the Dorado River.  We can easily spot parrots, macaws, Saki and saddle back monkeys, butterflies, hawks, laughing falcons just to name a few species.  After dinner enjoy the night sky with millions of sparkling stars that appear so close you feel you can touch them. Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 9, Tuesday: Iquitos

You will rise very early for a kayak trip upstream on the Zapote River on flat, calm waters.  You hit the water as the jungle comes alive where there is an abundant amount of birds (too many to list), troops of squirrel monkeys, and groups of red howler monkeys. This is the heart of the jungle where there are magnificent views of the vegetation with its huge ceiba or kapok trees, mahogany trees, bromeliads, orchids, palms, and woody vines just to name a very few of the flora you will see.

Afternoon is Supay Lake via skiff where wildlife greets you with another outstanding jungle experience. A farewell dinner of a amazing foods will be served before you retire for your last night on the boat.

Day 10, Wednesday: Iquitos - Lima

Early morning trip to explore the Yarapa River and to the village of Puerto Miguel where we will have a chance to learn of the local culture. Visit the local arts and carts market. 

Afternoon time will be spent at the Rescue and Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals where you have a chance to to meet baby manatees with a chance to feed and hold them. 

Transfer to airport for flight to Lima and on home.

You can have options to remain in Peru for other excursions or continue home.

Superior accommodations: $6,695 per person based on double occupancy

Air costs not included from Lima/Cusco/Lima and Lima/Iquitos/Lima. $960 per person subject to change.

Included: Meals as indicated on itinerary, private English speaking guide, all entrance fees to ruins indicated on the itinerary, bus tickets to ruins, 1 entrance tickets to ruins, train ticket in standard car, on board the M/V Delfin with excursions and meals.

Not included: International airfare to Peru, meals not indicated on itinerary, early check in or late check out at hotels, tips, local VAT taxes of !8% -- in order to be exempt you will need to show your passport when asked, drinks during meals, travel insurance which we highly recommend (a quote will be given to you at time of booking), personal items, drinks during meals.

Registration: To confirm your space on this tour, please send a deposit of 30% to our office. Balance is due 120 days prior to departure. 

Cancellation Policy: In the event you must cancel your reservation, refunds will be made according to the following schedule: Deposit 30% non-refundable. 90 to 61 days prior to departure, 50% of total is non-refundable; less than 60 days prior to departure, 100% non-refundable.

Insurance: Because many advance logistical arrangements have been made prior to the running of this trip, we must adhere to the above policy. In addition, please be aware that many insurance policies do not cover illness and accident expenses outside of the U.S., and Medicare does NOT cover any such expenses at all. In light of this, we strongly recommend trip cancellation and supplemental insurance.
