Antarctica Classic Itinerary

Day 1: Ushuaia

Arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina, the world's most southerly city.

Day 2: Ushuaia/Drake Passage

We begin embarkation on the M/S Expedition in the afternoon, and set sail through the Beagle Channel during the evening.

Days 3 and 4: Drake Passage

Our expedition begins with crossing of the famous Drake Passage, a 400 mile adventure leading us to Antarctica. Enjoy daily lectures from your expedition team, and keep an eye out for your first sightings of icebergs, whales, and seabirds that follow our ship.

Days 5 to 8: South Shetland Islands/Antarctic Peninsula

As we explore the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, you will experience some of the world's most unusual wildlife viewing and inspiring scenery. We will attempt two shore landings a day (depending on conditions) and will attempt to set foot on the Antarctic continent. We may see gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries, Weddell, crabeater and leopard seals, and orca, humpback and minke whales along the way. We will also learn about the dramatic human history of this remote region.

Days 9 and 10: Drake Passage/Ushuaia

Today we begin our journey back across the Drake, bound for Ushuaia. You'll have the chance to review the highlights of your Antarctic cruise with our lecturers and staff.

Day 11: Ushuaia

Disembark the ship and depart Ushuaia
