Hike the Inca Trail

Day 1: Arrive Lima

On arrival into Lima, you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight Lima (No meals included)

Day 2:  Lima--Gourmet Day

After breakfast, we embark on a city tour of Lima with its 500+ years of history.  You'll start in a local roastery, where they hand pick the coffee beans daily. Conituning on to tour the colonial streets stopping in the romantic Barranco District, Surquillo Market abundant with exotic fruits and vegetables followed by the city's top seafood restaurant, Cebicheria, where you will prepare ceviche and Pisco Sour with the head chef and bartender.  After lunch, continue the walking tour with a visit to the historical center area.

Day 3: Lima - Cusco 

After breakfast, we transfer to the Lima Airport for the flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.  In the afternoon, take a walking tour to  picturesque San Blas with its winding streets, whitewashed houses with balconies filled with potted geraniums, uneven tiled roofs and endless stairways. The tour includes stops at the San Blas Church and the Santa Domingo Monastery.

Overnight Cusco, Los Portales  (B)

Day 4: Cusco - Sacred Valley

In the morning, hikers will be met by their guide in the hotel's lobby. From the hotel head to Maras, a small Andean community where you will have a short visit around town before departing for a 2-3 hour hike. This area was possibility an experimental agricultural station for raising crops with its terraces and the climates of many different ecological zones at the present site.

After a box lunch continue the hike to the Maras Salt works. Transfer by vehicle back to your hotel for the evening. 

Overnight in Cusco, Los Portales  (B, BL)

Day 5: Cusco - Inca Trail - Huayllabamba

After breakfast, you will meet up with porters and equipment.  Start your trek escorted by porters, trekking through semi arid terrain along the Urubamba River with magnificent views of snow capped mountains. Depart Urubamba Valley to Kusichaca river to your first camp site.  Hike is about 6 hours. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Inca Trail - Huayllabamba - Pacaymayo

After a hearty breakfast, we begin to walk to Warmihuanusca pass (approximately 13,860 feet). As we reach the top of the pass, it is possible to see the other side leading to Runkurakay Ruins. At the end of the gorge, we will stop for our overnight at Pacaymayo. Trek 7 hours 7 Km (B,L,D)

Day 7: Inca Trail - Pacaymayo - Phuyupatamarca

Breakfast before we depart zigzagging a short ascent to Runkurakay circular ruins where there is only forests and hills. From this point, we notice the trail is more preserved with steps and stone path ways that go up to Sayacmarca Ruins. We continue our trek towards Phuyupatamarca Ruins eventually crossing "The Tunnel", a natural cavity produced by a landslide but adapted by the Incan's. As we trek on, we see the steep steps under the Ceremonial Center of Phuyupatamarca ruins continuing on for 3 more hours until we reach Winaywayna where we descend to our camp site for the night. Trek 6 hours 7 KM (B,L,D)

Day 8: Inca Trail: Pacaymayo - Winaywayna - Aguas Calientes

Start early in the morning going down the trail, from where we will see the Urubamba Valley and the river. The path goes down Wunay Wayna ruins, the most important of Machu Pichhu, heading towards Into Punku--the gate of the sun, the last pass before entering Machu Pichhu for s short visit before heading to Aguas Calientes for an overnight. Trek 9 hours 9 KM (B,L,D)  Overnight El Mapi at base of ruins, Aguas Calientes

Day 9: Machu Picchu - Cusco

Guided tour through the citadel with an afternoon train back to Cusco for an overnight. You will be met by your private guide and transferred to your hotel. Overnight Cusco, Los Portales (B)

Day 10: Cusco - Lima - Home

To airport, fly to Lima and fly home.

• Standard hotel package plus camping from $4,045 USD per person based on double occpuancy.  Single supplement: $495
• Superior hotel package plus camping from $4,495 USD per person based on double occpuancy. Single supplement: $995

Tour price includes:

Deposit: 25% per person non-refundable deposit due at time of booking. 

Cancellation Policy: Non-refundable balance due 90 days prior to travel dates. 

Insurance: Because many advance logistical arrangements have been made prior to the running of this trip, we must adhere to the above policy. In addition, please be aware that many insurance policies do not cover illness and accident expenses outside of the U.S., and Medicare does NOT cover any such expenses at all. In light of this, we strongly recommend trip cancellation and supplemental insurance.
